The 2019 Annual Scottish Medical Appraisers Conference will be held on Friday 10 May 2019 at the EICC.

The conference is provided for the Medical Appraiser workforce in Scotland.  Reflection in appraisal has been a much debated topic in the past year, and this forms the theme for this year’s conference.

The plenary session will include a presentation from Dr Maurice Conlon (Clinical Advisor, Professional Standards Team, NHS England), discussing “Appraisal in cycle 2: a soft reboot”; and Dr Rob Hendry (Medical Protection Society) will present “Why Reflective Practice Still Matters”.  Following this, a Q&A session will be chaired by Dr Christiane Shrimpton (National Appraisal Adviser), and the panel will include our guest presenters and Dr Clare Carolan (NHS Western Isles, Primary Care Appraisal Lead).

We also have six workshops on the day (running twice) designed to support Appraisers and further explore the theme of reflection.
