Head of Clinical Engineering

Dr Stuart Parks is Head of Clinical Engineering in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board. There, he is responsible for scientists, engineers and technologists embedded within the clinical ‘ologies’ diffused throughout the health board.
He also leads the Medical Devices Unit (www.medicaldevicesunit.org) in Glasgow with skills in software engineering, informatics, image processing, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and medical device regulations. These teams are involved in the design, development and evaluation of novel technologies for the NHS.
Dr Parks has been the lead investigator in a broad range of research from device development, technology evaluation to clinical trials in areas as diverse as cancer, diabetes and epilepsy.
Recently he established the Glasgow Centre for Ophthalmic Research (www.gcor.org.uk) to be a leading centre in the development and investigation of technologies and treatments for eye disease.
