Sonja's career then progressed by being promoted to a senior biomedical scientist in the coagulation section and then to chief biomedical scientist with responsibility for training which was a role she held for 10 years and really enjoyed supporting and mentoring her colleagues as they progressed through their training and careers. Sonja was also a member of the IBMS Scottish Training Forum and was involved in national education days and worked closely with her colleagues from across Scotland. In 2014 Sonja started the Academy for Healthcare Science equivalence programme with the support of National Education Scotland and her department and was successful in being awarded her Clinical Scientist award and HCPC registration.
