NES Healthcare Science Specialty Lead - Blood Sciences/Biomedical Scientist

Lee has been working as a registered Health and Care Professions Council Biomedical Scientist within NHS Lanarkshire for almost 10 years.  After completion of both his IBMS Specialist Diploma in Clinical Chemistry and his MSc in Biomedical Science, he was appointed training officer for Biochemistry in 2012.  As well as monitoring training for new and existing staff, Lee is also involved in overseeing the integrated Biomedical Science degree students during their work placement.  Lee is a Member of the Institute of Biomedical Science and represents the IBMS as an assessor for the registration portfolio and a verifier for the Specialist diploma.

In 2015 Lee began a part-time secondment with NHS Education for Scotland within the role of specialty lead for Blood Sciences, where he has been heavily involved with the development of NES’s new role in the quality management of postgraduate scientist training for the NHS in Scotland.
