Laura graduated from Exeter University with a Biological Sciences BScHons degree in 2008 and moved to Glasgow to start her PhD at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, working on mechanisms for cell movement and cancer metastasis. After completing the PhD, she worked briefly as a post-doctoral researcher at the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre looking at the role of transcription factors in leukaemic stem cell proliferation, before taking up a position in the Glasgow Genetics laboratory as a Clinical Scientist trainee in Molecular Pathology in 2014. She completed her training, registering as a Clinical Scientist in 2018, and continued working in the Glasgow laboratory where she then took up a new role as Development Manager of the department in early 2019.
