Associate Director of Patient Services

Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS)

Karen Stewart is the Associate Director of the Patient Services Directorate, Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS). Karen has worked as a Biomedical Scientist within NHS Scotland for over 26 years, within the specialities of blood transfusion and Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics and as a Clinical Laboratory Manager.

She previously held the national role at Scottish Government as our Healthcare Science Officer, leading on the development and delivery of the Healthcare Science National Delivery Plan (2015-2020).

Karen has recently re-joined the NHS in her Associate Director role at SNBTS and has a particular interest in developing our scientific workforce and working in collaboration across our NHS Boards.
