Jo has worked as a Healthcare Scientist in the NHS for 27 years. Her scientific background is in Cellular Pathology, specialising in gastrointestinal histopathology reporting and dissection. 

Jo currently works as a Scientist Training Programme (STP) Training Programme Director for the National School of Healthcare Science, supporting the training of Healthcare Scientists across the UK. She is the Midlands Dean for Healthcare Science, advising on healthcare science education and training across the region.  Jo is an accredited professional coach and has a special interest in neurodiversity, seeking to increase levels of understanding and support for neurodivergent people in the workplace.
