Consultant Psychiatrist

NHS Fife

Dr Jana de Villiers was appointed Consultant Psychiatrist for the Fife Forensic Learning Disability Service in July 2011. She is the Responsible Medical Officer for Daleview, the regional low secure forensic learning disability ward for the South East of Scotland. In addition she manages a locked forensic learning disability ward and manages high risk patients in robust community settings across Fife. Jointly with Dr Mike Doyle, Forensic Psychologist, she has established a pilot Fife Forensic Autism Assessment Service, providing advice and consultancy for agencies managing people with autism who have committed serious offences. The pilot service is for people with autism regardless of level of cognitive ability. She has published in peer reviewed journals, including on the topic of managing learning disabled offenders in the community. She co-authored an online training module for the Royal College of Psychiatrists on Forensic Learning Disability, and has presented on a range of topics at both national and international conferences.
