Scottish Medical Appraisers Conference 2020 Friday 01 May 2020

We regret to inform you that as a result of the current Coronavirus outbreak, we have taken a decision to cancel this year's Conference.

This is a large event, and in line with Government advice, we want to avoid taking staff away from their various important roles across our health and social care system.

The 2020 Annual Scottish Medical Appraisers Conference will be held on Friday 1 May 2020 at the EICC.

The conference is provided for the Medical Appraiser workforce in Scotland.  We have shaped this year’s conference from the feedback we received from Appraisers and Appraisal Leads over the course of the past year and hope you will find it engaging and useful in your Appraiser role.

The plenary session will include a presentation from Dr Tracey Gillies (Responsible Officer, NHS Lothian), discussing the linkage between “ROs and Appraisers”; and Dr Kate Burnett (Health Education England) will present on the theme of “Enhance Performance – How this is best achieved”.  Following this, a Q&A session will be chaired by Dr Christiane Shrimpton (APGD for Appraisal and Revalidation, NES), and the panel will include our guest presenters.

Following this, we will have seven workshops for Appraisers to choose from.  We will conclude the conference with a presentation from Dr Chris Turner (Consultant in Emergency Medicine, University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire) on “Civility Saves Lives”.
