Caring for Smiles is the Scotland-wide oral health education/support programme, which aims to provide good oral health for dependent older adults. The programme provides non-accredited and SCQF accredited training delivered locally, by health board teams.

 

College Development Network
College Development Network supports the college sector in Scotland, by working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders. This includes NES through the CDN Care, NHS and Early Years Network.

 

Healthcare Support Worker Advisory Group
The Health Care Support Worker Advisory Group is the national voice of HCSWs on learning and development. We come from many backgrounds and disciplines and understand the challenges faced by other support workers.

Royal College of Nursing Scotland
The Royal College of Nursing is the world’s largest nursing-specific trade union and professional body. We campaign on issues of concern to nurses and patients, influences health policies and promotes excellence in nursing practice on behalf of its members. All those working within nursing (registered nurses, health care support workers and student nurses) are eligible to join us.

In addition to providing support on employment relations, legal and nursing
practice issues, we offer a range of additional services:

  • Europe’s largest nursing library service (including a range of resources designed for HCSWs)
  • Online learning on a range of topics (including diabetes, continence care and end of life care
  • First Steps (online learning specifically designed for HCSWs)
  • An outreach service which delivers learning and development at your workplace on a range of topics (including accountability & delegation, record keeping, social media and finding nursing information online)
  • Our Member Support Service also offers a counselling service, financial support, careers service, immigration advice and welfare advice.

 

The Open University
The Open University BSc (Hons) Nursing degree is a unique part-time practice-based learning route to qualification as a registered nurse which is funded by Scottish Government. You will stay in your substantive post throughout the programme.
