The Academy for Healthcare Science is delighted to be back in Scotland for its AHCS Study Day (North), supported by NHS Education for Scotland.

We are looking forward to welcoming healthcare science colleagues from Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland to this exciting one-day event.

The event, although aimed at our registrants, is also available to all healthcare scientists who want to know more about what we do to support our profession's development.

Aims of the day:

  • increase awareness of the role of the Academy in supporting registrants, in promoting high quality and safe patient care, and in ensuring Healthcare Science continues to be recognised as crucially important to the health and care system.
  • enable you to influence the future work of the Academy.
  • bring colleagues together for a catch-up, sharing of experiences and establishing new networks.
  • explore key issues in more detail through workshops such as:

- continuing professional development – what is it, how to record it, and why bother
- how the AHCS Equivalence process can support your progress along the career ladder
- the benefits of being a registrant.

There will also be a bespoke workshop for our latest cadre of AHCS assessors – invite only.

Confirmed speakers include: Karen Stewart, Healthcare Science Officer, Scottish Government; Professor Brendan Cooper, Consultant Clinical Scientist and President of the AHCS; Patricia Le Rolland, Chair of the AHCS Regulation Council and Julie Norris, Partner, Kingsley Napley.

Workshops will be led by experienced healthcare scientists and members of the Academy’s team.

A certificate of participation will be sent to delegates after the event.

There is no charge to attend, however, registration is required.

Who Should Attend?

For AHCS registrants; members of the healthcare science workforce who are committed to education and training, and professional development of themselves and others; and for healthcare science managers to learn more about the work of the AHCS. Colleagues from North East and North West England and Northern Ireland are welcome to attend this study day.
